A Comparison of Under-Body Forced-Air and Resistive Heating During Hypothermic Bypass
Stefan Engelen, M.D.; Dirk Himpe, M.D., Ph.D.; Steven Borms, M.D.; Philip Van Cauwelaert, M.D.; Daniel I. Sessler, M.D., F.R.C.P.

This study of 129 patients randomly assigned to three groups indicates that the use of Bair Hugger® Model 635 Full Access Underbody blanket resulted in significantly warmer core temperatures than the use of a resistive-electric mattress or no warming in post-cardiac bypass periods.

A076
Comparison of Forced-Air and a New Resistive Warming Device for Intraoperative Rewarming
Olga Plattner, M.D.; Georg Röder, M.D.; Christian Schopper, M.D.; Georg Roth, M.D.; Daniel I. Sessler, M.D.

This study of 28 patients indicates that the Bair Hugger Full Body blanket re-warmed patients two times faster than a resistive-electric full body warming blanket following major maxillary tumor surgery.

A080
Hypothermia Prevention: Assessment of a New Forced Warming Air Device
Ariane Gentile, M.D.; Nicolas Fritsch, M.D.; David Tran Van, M.D.; Alain Benois, M.D.; Bruno Fontaine, M.D.

This study of 60 patients randomly assigned to two groups indicates that the Bair Paws® system provides a significant gain in terms of temperature and thermal comfort during the perioperative period for patients undergoing elective surgery.

A086
Intraoperative Warming with vitalHEAT During Open Abdominal Surgery
Rachel A. Karlnoski, Ph.D.; Ashley D. Anderson, B.S.; Katheryne Downes, M.P.H.; Devanand Mangar, M.D.; Enrico M. Camporesi, M.D.

This study of 46 subjects randomly assigned to two groups indicates that the concurrent use of both a resistive-electric mattress and the vitalHEAT™ system produced similar intraoperative temperature results when compared to a single Bair Hugger blanket in major abdominal surgical patients.

A087
A New Underbody Resistive Warming Device vs. Forced-Air Warming To Prevent Perioperative Hypothermia
Hong-Ha Nguyen, M.D, M.B.A.; Zyad Benoun, Stud. Med.; Astrid Chiari, M.D.; Oliver Kimberger, M.D.

This study of 24 subjects randomized into two groups indicates that the concurrent use of both a resistive-electric over-the-body blanket and a resistive-electric under-the-body mattress produced non-inferior core temperature results after elective orthopedic surgery when compared to a single Bair Hugger Upper Body blanket.

A088
Lithotomy Underbody Air Blanket Can Prevent Intraoperative Redistribution Hypothermia
Takashi Ouchi, M.D., Ph.D.; Toshiya Koitabashi, M.D., Ph.D.; Ryohei Serita, M.D., Ph.D.; Takao Kato, M.D.; Hideharu Agata, D.D.S., Ph.D.

This study of 17 patients randomized into two groups indicates that the Bair Hugger Lithotomy Underbody blanket, when used with the Model 750, can prevent the initial temperature decrease caused by redistribution when compared to a water mattress in elective laparoscopic gynecologic surgical patients.
